about
“Forgiving Living Ones” by So Soaked uses a collection of audio clips from DUSTWEST’s family tapes recorded during the 1980s, 1990s, and even some from the 2000s. The song was inspired by advice and words of wisdom adapted from his family and other people he looked up to over the years. It’s important that we make an effort to forgive ourselves and others while we’re still living. Don’t be selfish — share.
lyrics
Shawna: “What are you going to wish?”
Dusty: “I’m going… high up there!”
My grandfather once told me, “son
(ooooooOOOOOOO)
Life is for the living ones
And death can be so unforgiving
(ooooooOOOOOOO)
We gotta learn to live it and forgive them”
Buried success
Milestones sink into lore
Concerned with content?
Strive daily, be wary for more
White lightning drink
Bourbon pours for the weak
Sage wisdom thrives
While we’re alive living meek
Dusty: “That’s what they taught me to do.”
Mother Dearest: HA HA HA HA HA
My friend’s father once told me, “son
(ooooooOOOOOOO)
Be proud for what your good heart’s won
Impressions from the loss and sadness
(ooooooOOOOOOO)
The healing frees you to live and accept less”
Grams: “You guys are so silly! This is Kenny drinking beer... after a few of ‘em”
Gramps: “There’s the 10 most wanted guys”
Uncle Curt: “Yup.. HA-HA-HA-HA”
Grams: “Old man tired?”
Shawna: HA HEH HEH HA HEH HA HA
Shawna: Well, uh… lemme get me, too
Grams: “Can you wave?”
Shawna: “Get me, too.”
Gramps: “Don’t be selfish.”
Gramps: “Can you wave at me, Dusty?”
My stunt father once told me, “son
(ooooooOOOOOOO)
We may fumble but we’re not alone
Beached waves harness hues of grief’s defeat
(ooooooOOOOOOO)
Compete, an ace, lose sight, that’s love
No gravestone suite”
As I gently age
Into my shadow below
A fair share of pain
Giving in, emotions will grow
Bless be the beasts
And the children they sow
Feasts for the fools
To tip their cups for the show
Dusty: “Um…”
Dusty: “Uncle Kenny, so far you only got one…”
Uncle Kenny: “I only have one? Well... thank you, Dusty.”
Dusty: “Yup!”
Dusty: “Oh… and it’s my mom.”
Shawna: “No wonder!”
Mother Dearest: “Hi… ok.”
Dadski: “He likes music… When I brought him home, I had the radio on... and he’s sitting there rocking back and forth and trying to snap his fingers and stuff.”
My own father once told me, “son
Treat them as if they already are
And they’ll become what they want to emit
(ooooooOOOOOOO)
Conceive, believe, goodwill
Home run, kid”
My grandfather once told me, “son
Life is for the living ones
And death can be so unforgiving
Gotta learn to live it and not forget them”
(ooooooOOOOOOO)
Dusty: “Welp… my picture’s not working?”
Grams: “It isn’t? Why?”
Dusty: “Well, buh-bye”
